"International Forum on Eco-Farming" goes virtual live event to present how to

“overcome the climate crisis through eco-farming where people and nature coexist”

* International Forum on Eco-Farming will serve as a platform to spread of eco-friendly agriculture and global eco-farming

(Awakening Citizens’ Culture Experience Exhibition Hall in Gimhae, Oct.7~Oct.9)

The International Forum on Eco-Farming for active response to global climate change and the spread of eco-friendly agriculture that saves nature and mankind will be held for three days from October 7 (Thu) to 9 (Sat) in "Awakening Citizens' Culture and Experience Exhibition Hall" Gimhae as a virtual streaming event.

(* The "Awakening Citizens' Culture and Experience Exhibition Hall" is located in Bongha Village where the late President Roh Moo-hyun opened the first chapter of ecological agriculture after returning home and continued the philosophy of eco-friendly farming.)

 

To become the world-class eco-region and to contribute to develop eco-farming, the International Forum on Eco-Farming was created this year by Gyeongsangnam-do which recognizes the value of ecosystems and practices safe eco-farming that doesn't harm the nature. It is an international forum.

 

Under the main theme of ""Eco-Farming: A sustainable solution for Humanity to live in harmony with Nature," the forum will address the importance of eco-farming, climate change, and a common response strategy of sustainable future food supply for mankind. documentary director Josh Tickell will participate as a keynote speaker, who directed Netflix original "Kiss the Ground," which received high complicment from the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times.

Another keynote speaker, Andre Leu, the former president of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement (IFOAM), who took an active part in carbon neutrality and the Paris climate agreement, will also emphasize climate change and the spread of eco-farming.

 

Nigel Brett, the director of the International Agricultural Development Fund (IFAD) Asia Pacific, and Shengyao Tang, the director of the FAO-Korea Cooperation Liaison Office sent congratulatory messages for the first start of the forum.

 

In addition, with a total of 26 prominent speakers from 11 countries around the world, there will be three expert sessions including “Biodiversity and Agricultural Ecosystem,” “Ecological Farming for achieving Carbon Neutrality,” and “Agricultural Ecosystem Created by Healthy Citizens” and an open session of "Seed, of the farmers, by the farmers, for the farmers."

 

For the “Global Youth Supporters”, which recruited supporters to raise awareness of young people at home and abroad who are interested in eco-farming and to develop agricultural culture, a total of 130 people applied and 87 people from 6 countries were selected. They will be active for various online promotions during the forum period.

 

There are programs to raise awareness of ecology and expand participation among citizens through side events: the "Planting eco-fridendly vegetable experience" by eco-families who practice eco-friendliness in their daily lives and participate in sustainable consumption, the "Bongha International Eco-Farming Film Festival" that will popularize the awareness of the importance of eco-farming, " Eco-friendly Farmhouses" that will open the market for eco-friendly farmers' products, "Ecological Information Center for Return Farmers" which will consult the problems of future return farmers and Eco-Friendly Nongju (Korean rice liquor) Video Clip.

 

The chairman of the International Network for Eco-Farming Jae-cheol Choi said “Eco-friendly agriculture is a sustainable approach to respond to the climate crisis and preserve the diversity of ecosystems. Through the 1st International Forum on Eco-Farming, the value of eco-farming logical agriculture will be spread to all whole nation and furthermore, it will become a forum where people and nature can work together and everyone's efforts to overcome the climate crisis can be realized."
